April 8, 2024
Home to the longest duration of totality in Arkansas
April 2024 brings a once-in-a-lifetime event for viewing a total solar eclipse across Mexico and the United States. Sevier County Arkansas is the best place to view the 2024 total solar eclipse. Located along the path of the center of totality, communities like Gillham, De Queen, Horatio, and Lockesburg will have the highest visibility and longest lengths of totality viewing in the state of Arkansas.
Over the coming months, community events and festival details will be posted as they become available. For more information or to be more involved, complete the form below and connect with the planning committee.
Come for Fun.
As the home to the longest totality in Arkansas, we plan to celebrate big and include as many people as possible. Check back for activities and festival plans leading up to April 8, 2024.
Be Educated.
In the months leading up to the eclipse, we will host multiple local roundtable sessions to educate our community about the upcoming celestial events. Additionally, we will have conversations among segments of the population who may benefit from visitors. Click on the button below to learn more about this anticipated scientific event.
Stay in Town.
Sevier County offers a variety of accommodations - stay in a tent on the lake shores, sleep in a private cabin under the stars, or reserve a room at a local hotel. Book early while there are still available accommodations.
